What customers say about the Kahtoola MICROspikes Pocket Traction System

[Rating:5/5]

It is very rare for any product with over 150 reviews in that they were all positive. Reviewers commented that they are easy to put on and fit over their shoes or boots without a problem. Once on they do not shift or slip or need adjusting of any sort. They are easy to put on, easy to take off, and are built to last.

Many reviewers talking about the superior traction they get with these as they are able to cross steep, snow-covered traverses while winter walking. One hiker remarked, “their grip on the ice is solid. I have never felt so safe. All aspects of the Microspike are superior to the Yaktrax. The stainless steel chain and spikes will not ware out and hold the ice much better than the steel springs of the Yaks. The design of the upper rubber harness is superior as well.”

Many users had purchased Yaktrax in the past and stated they do not compare. One reviewer said, “her combined 8 years of US parkranger and hiking tour guide know-how kept me from buying a cheaper brand / version, and I am so glad that my footing is rock solid now.”

A little different but this use commented, “I use them as a traction option in the varied microclimates of Hawaii hiking trails. That being said, I am not using them for their intended purpose but, still, they provide excellent traction when upon encountering loose dirt, mud, gravel, detritus, tree roots and even rocks – especially on tricky, tiring descents.”

They work well even for tall people as one 6 foot and 215 pound hiker confirmed. He felt they feature very high quality materials.
